Calgon take me away! At the end of a long day it is really nice to have a fantastic soak in a tub. I used to be all about the jets in the tub pre-kids but now I just want everything completely quiet once they are in bed. The lack of sound is very rejuvenating. I only really need about 15 minutes of quiet time to re-calibrate. I’ve tried to put on some quiet jazz or classical music maybe even a Mumford & Sons playlist on Pandora. Silence is definitely the better option.
Instead of purchasing some bath salts I decided to try to make my own. I learned that this is NOT difficult!
4 parts Sea Salt
1 part Baking Soda
Lavender essential oil (10 drops per cup or so)
Fresh or dried whole Calendula flowers or Rose petals (optional)
Put sea salt into a glass or ceramic bowl and add in the lavender essential oils. Add in the baking soda and mix it all together, also stirring in the Calendula flowers or Rose petals. If you’re using fresh blossoms, place them between layers of salt and let infuse for a few weeks before adding in the other ingredients. Add a handful or two to your bath. (Note: 4 parts Sea Salt can be 4 tablespoons, 4 handfuls, 4 cups, any amount. This recipe is included to give you a starting point for proportions. Feel free to experiment!)
