Why should you make your own mint chocolate sauce?
The other day I wanted to make sundaes with my kids. My real food journey has been pretty eye opening to say the least. I sent my husband to the local grocery store since we were out of homemade ice cream. I told him to take a look at the chocolate sauces and see if there were any that had ingredients that wouldn’t freak me out. While he was there he read the ingredients only to find all of them contained High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). Ugh. Read why HFCS is bad for you here. I told him I would just make some.
Typical ingredient in mint chocolate from the store:
Sugar, Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (Palm Kernel And Palm), Cocoa (Processed With Alkali), Nonfat Milk, Lactose, Milk Protein Concentrate, Soy Lecithin (An Emulsifier), Natural And Artificial Flavors, Peppermint Oil, Colors Added (Yellow 5 Lake, Blue 1 Lake).
